Midnight Plazza

2021 / site-specific installation

Midnight Plazza is an open-air nocturnal concert for modular synthesizers, UV lights, and local insects. At the crossroads of an entomological observation post and an electronic recital, the installation transforms the night into a space of encounter between humans and other-than-humans. Like a terrestrial lighthouse, an array of luminous tubes attracts the surrounding fauna through the captivating power of photons.

These light sources do more than illuminate: variations in their intensity modulate, in real time, the sounds of two modular synthesizers via solar cells integrated into the system. Light thus becomes a living interface, connecting insects, machines, and the sonic landscape.
